The goal of this walkthrough is to give you the information you need to get through the game but to be as “spoiler lite” as possible.  The very nature of a walkthrough though is one big spoiler because even at the highest level, it is still hinting at things to come. Each chapter is broken down into individual tasks you have to do to complete that chapter.  Each task has a short descriptor, a Hint and a Solution:

Hint - will give you a suggestion as to things you might want to try.  It provides you with just a little nudge in the right direction so you can still try to solve things on your own.

Solution - will help you if you are flat out stuck on something, telling you exactly what you need to do and how to do it, which of course means it will contain the most spoilers.  You have been warned.

Key Tips[ | ]

Before we get into the walkthrough, here are some key tips that might help you from needing the walkthrough at all.  We’d rather have you play the game than read about how to play it.

Tip 1[ | ]

Pay attention to the dialog : It usually gives you a pretty good idea of what you are expected to do.

Tip 2[ | ]

Keep an eye on your compass : Mission icons along with important NPCs and objects will pop up on it and it will help guide you towards where you need to go.

Tip 3[ | ]

When in doubt, open the map : The map will always have an icon on it showing you what and where your next mission objective is.

Chapter 1:  Stranger in a Strange Land[ | ]

You drop out of the sky and into the world of the RTS game.  You will meet the key players and get a good idea of what is happening in the world and what you might be able to do to help them out.

Task 1: Head towards the center of town[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Remember the compass and the map tip from earlier?  This might be a good time to use them if you don’t know where to go.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
After the cinematic ends, you will be facing towards the center of town.  Head straight down the main path.  It’s the only path currently clear and open to travel down.

Task 2: Remove the debris[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Use what you already know from the Tutorial and anything new you might have picked up along the way.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
If you follow Ada’s instructions, you will need to use the Scale Tweak you acquired in the Tutorial and cast it on the debris in front of you.  It will shrink the debris but it won't be enough.  Ada will then give you the Modify Health Tweak and suggest you use it on the debris. It will blow it up and allow you to get past it.
On subsequent playthroughs, you may have additional hacks or abilities you can use to get pass the debris.

Task 3: Defeat the Undead fighters blocking your way[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
hint
You only have a few abilities that you can use. One of them will help you defeat the Undead Fighters.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
On a first playthrough, use the Modify Health Tweak on the Undead Fighters.  With the default settings, it takes two casts to kill a single Fighter if they are at full health.
On subsequent playthroughs, you might have additional hacks or abilities you can use to defeat them.

Task 4: Help the Workers[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
This task has three parts.
Find the worker who asked for your help.  You have tools to help you do this if you don’t see him anywhere.
Figure out how to free the trapped workers.  You can use skills you’ve learned to accomplish this
You need to help the workers get to safety.  To do that, you’ll need to tap into a particular skill you learned in the Tutorial that allows you to see behind the scenes.
Solution[ | ]
Follow the Worker
The Worker asking for your help appears close by to where the Undead Fighters first were.  Approach him and he will lead you to where the other workers are trapped behind some burning debris.  You can use the compass and the map to help locate him if you don’t see him.  Once you arrive at the location you will find a Fighter who will ask help with clearing the debris.  Behind the burning debris will be three other workers.
Free the Trapped Workers
The easiest way to free the workers is to use the Modify Health Tweak on the pieces of debris just like you did earlier.  Each piece of debris can be destroyed with a single hit.  If you want to be a bit fancier, you can also activate Lenses Mode which will give you access to the Health Value of the debris.  Setting it to zero will destroy the debris.
Help the Workers to Safety
Once you have destroyed at least one piece of debris, one of the workers will run free and head towards the nearest piece of ore and begin mining it.  One of the other workers will then begin questioning what is happening.  Ada will clue you in that you need to use your Lenses to examine the worker and figure out what is wrong with them.  You should activate Lenses Mode and then look for the Ore Sensing Radius property.  It will be set to zero by default.  Crank it's value up past “10” and you should see the worker start heading towards the closest piece of ore.
Repeat this process on the third worker to complete the task.

Task 5:  Protect the Workers[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Similar to the earlier fight, you already have all the tools you need to defeat them.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
Just use your Modify Health Tweak to pick off the Undead Fighters one by one.  Pretty early into the fight, Duir will show up to give you a helping hand.  You should not rely on her to kill the Undead fighters for you, but she should be able to take down a few for you.

Task 6:  Follow Duir[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You might want to follow Duir.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
You don’t have to do anything else except follow Duir.  She will approach you and speak to you before she takes off towards the center of town.  If you follow right behind her, you won’t have any issues keeping up.  If she gets ahead of you and you lose sight of her, use your compass and/or your map to figure out where she is and where you need to go.

Death Knight Cinematic[ | ]

After following Duir to the fountain in the center of town, you witness a fight against a fearsome new foe.  You also find a new item by the fountain that will be most useful for the challenges to come.

Task 7:  Defeat the Death Knight[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Old tricks might not work here and you might need to try something new.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
The Death Knight is immune to all tweaks you currently have, which you’ll discover if you try to use them.  Your best bet is to use the sword you just acquired.  Be warned though that the Death Knight hits pretty hard and you might need to hit and run if your health gets too low.  Your allies will also do damage to it and can pull the focus off of you and onto them if you stop attacking. You can also run around and let your allies deal with it, but their damage output is much lower than yours.

Task 8:  Defend the Town Square[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You have all the tools you need to defeat the Undead Forces.  And watch out for the new enemy introduced here.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
There is no one solution for defeating all the enemies.  Between both the Modify Health tweak and the Sword you can take care of most of the Undead pretty quickly.  Riga, Duir and Fearn also do an effective job of dispatching the invaders so you won’t have to take care of all of them yourself.
Watch out for the new enemy introduced here: the Undead Archer.  They are sneaky, use a ranged attack and deal a lot of damage.  Because they are firing a physical projectile it is possible to dodge the arrow if you can react quickly enough.
You might also spot a red barrel somewhat nearby the fountain.  That is an explosive barrel and when it is destroyed it will take out any archers near it and badly injure anyone else (including yourself and your companions) that are within its blast radius. It’s best to hit those from a distance using your Modify Health tweak.

Task 9:  Go to the East Gate[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You just need to get to the East Gate which is where you first entered the town. There are plenty of visual clues to help guide you to it.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
The heroic trio take off and head right towards it.  Just follow them down the center main path which will take you directly to the East Gate.  If you lose sight of them, you can use the compass to see where they are, or use the map to see where you need to go.  You just need to get to the gate to complete the task.

Task 10:  Help Close the East Gate[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You need to do something with the gate.  If you’ve been listening to Ada she mentioned earlier that a particular skill is most useful when things seem broken or not working right.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
You need to use your Lenses to inspect the gate.  Activate Lenses Mode and click on the gate to select it.  Scrolling through some of the settings you will see that you can affect its Health and its Rotation.  In this case, adjusting the rotation is the more optimal route to go.  Simply adjust the rotation slider until the gate closes.
If you adjust the Health down to zero and destroy the gate, you will still complete the task, but you will make your next task that much harder.
Pro Tip:  You don’t have to be inside the town to close the gate.  It can be closed from the outside too.  Doing so can potentially make the next task slightly easier to accomplish.

Task 11:  Defend the East Gate[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Stopping the Undead from getting through the gate is your primary task and can be accomplished a few different ways with the skills you already have.  There also might be objects in the environment that you can use to your advantage.  Using some creative thinking here can go a long way.
And if the Undead breach the gate, all is not lost yet.  You just need to finish them off before they can do any more permanent damage.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
There are a few different things you can do.  The most basic option is to close the gate from inside the town, and then run up the stairs leading to the top of the rampart and begin to snipe the approaching Undead using your Modify Health tweak.  There is a good chance you won’t be able to defeat all the waves doing this though and the Undead will probably breach the gate.  When they do, they will head towards the closest building and begin attacking it.  At this point, you can use your Sword and your Modify Health tweak to quickly take care of them by fighting them inside the town.  There are also a few Exploding barrels that have been strategically placed that can also help out.  If you use them, don’t be afraid to let a handful of the Undead bunch up first so you can damage more of them in a single explosion.
If you used the Pro Tip from the previous section you would find yourself outside the town and there is nothing between you and the enemy.  You can freely use your Modify Health tweak and your Sword to dispatch the enemies as they approach.  Just don’t wander too far away from the gate or you will leave the combat area and reset the fight.
A creative approach is to remember that Health is one of the things that can be adjusted on the gate.  Whether inside or outside, you can activate Lenses Mode, cycle to the gate Health setting, and crank it back up to maximum health.  Don’t be afraid to take a moment to do this during one of their attack waves, though it is much easier to do in-between attacks when you have a few seconds to breathe.  This will delay the Undead from destroying the gate and could completely prevent them from ever getting into the town.

Task 12:  Meet Riga at the Fountain[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You just need to find Riga.  She can be found in the same spot you found her last time.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
You just need to head to the fountain in the center of town, where you met Riga the first time.  Just follow the main path right back to the center of town.  Her location also shows up on the map and the compass in case you can’t quite remember how to get back there.

End of Chapter 1 Cinematic[ | ]

You speak to Riga who thanks you for your help. Once the cinematic finishes you have two choices:

  • Enter Free Roam Mode - you are now able to freely move around and explore not only the town but the RTS world as a whole. You can discover the many wonders the world contains like Lore Objects, Side Missions and puzzles (see Free Roam Mode for more)
  • Continue with the story - head to the Tavern (the big building north of the fountain), where you will find an icon that you can interact with.  Doing so will start the next chapter.  The location of the icon will show up on both the compass and the map.

There isn’t a wrong choice here.  You can wander around for a while and come back to the Tavern at any time to continue the story.  You can also continue the story right away and once the next mission line is completed, you will get the chance to free roam again.

Chapter 2:  The Final Battle[ | ]

Task 1:  Meet Riga by the East Gate[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
The messenger told you everything you needed to know.  If you missed that, just look at your map to find out where to go.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
Take the central town path and head towards the East Gate.  The messenger will lead the way, but you should be pretty familiar with the spot and how to get back there by this point.  If you forget where to go, or lose sight of the messenger, the spot where you need to go will be on the map.

Riga’s Speech Cinematic[ | ]

Riga gives a grand speech to rally the troops and outlines her plans to stop the Undead.

Task 2:  Defeat First Wave of Wall Enemies[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
This is a straight up fight.  Use the skills you have learned so far to dispatch all the enemies.  And definitely heed Riga’s advice about the Green Mage.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
Make sure to focus on taking out the Green Mages as quickly as possible.  They have the ability to summon Dark Fighters, smaller and weaker versions of the Death Knight.  They share the Death Knight’s same immunity to the majority of your tweaks though, so they are still very deadly.  If the Mages are not dealt with in a timely manner, things can get out of control very quickly.  Use your Modify Health tweak to take them out from a distance at the start of the fight and things will go much smoother.
If you are stuck having to fight a large group of Dark Fighters, use a hit and run tactic.  Rush in to use your sword to get in a few good hits and then back off once you start taking some damage so you can regenerate health.  Trying to go toe to toe with a large group of Dark Fighters will usually lead to your death.

Task 3:  Follow Riga to the Grating[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Riga told you everything you needed to know.  If you missed that, just look at your map to see where to go.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
Just head towards Riga.  That’s all you need to do.  The grating is located under the large pavilion right by where you first landed on the wall.  If you can’t find her for some reason, just open the map to find the mission marker which will show you where to go.

Lowering Riga into Grating Cinematic[ | ]

You help Riga access the belly of the wall so she can carry out the next step of her plan.

Task 4:  Defeat Second Wave of Wall Enemies[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
This is a straight-up fight.  Use the skills you have learned so far to dispatch all the enemies.  Don’t ignore those Green Mages.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
Just like the previous fight, focus on taking out the Green Mages as quickly as possible.  Use your Modify Health tweak to quickly take them out from distance.  If that is done quickly enough, the rest of the fight should be fairly simple.
If you didn’t take the Mages out quickly enough and find yourself fighting a large group of Dark Fighters, switch to hit and run tactics.  Use your sword close up and then retreat to regenerate health.  Be very aware of your health.  Even just a few Dark fighters together can drop you in a matter of seconds if you are not careful.

Task 5:  Help Riga out of the Grating[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You might want to give Riga a hand
Solution[ | ]
Solution
Just head towards the grating under the pavilion once again.  All you have to do is arrive at the location.  If you’ve gotten lost or confused, you can just open the map and head towards the mission marker on it.

Wall Breaching Cinematic[ | ]

As you begin to move away from the wall you can finally see what Riga was doing in the belly of it and witness the aftermath of her actions.

Task 6:  Defeat the Undead Army[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
You have all the tools you need to deal with the Undead Forces especially now with the gift Ada gave you.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
The most optimal way to tackle this fight is to use the Damage AoE Mod that you were just given by Ada.  If it is not automatically equipped, just open your inventory and slot it into one of your Casting Wheel slots.  Try to target an enemy that is in the middle of a large group of enemies so you can hit the greatest number of targets with one blast.  Do this as often as you can to quickly reduced the Undead forces to a fraction of what they were.  While your casting energy is recharging, use your Sword to pick off anyone that gets close to you.
There will be a number of Dark Fighters and one Death Knight in the mix of enemies and none of them will be affected by the Mod.  So you will either need to take them on using your Sword or let the Human Army deal with them.
Remember to keep an eye on your health.  With this many enemies around it is easy to get attacked simultaneously from multiple directions. So, if your health is getting low, don’t be afraid to retreat to a safe spot to give yourself a chance to regenerate before diving back into battle.

Task 7:  Storm the Undead City[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Find a way into the Undead City. The entrance should be pretty obvious.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
All you need to do here is enter the Undead City.  Nothing tricky about it.  The main entrance is just north of the Graveyard and is pretty obvious.  Markers have also appeared in the world and on your map to help guide you to where you need to go.

Task 8:  Battle the Black Mage[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Your normal Mage fighting tactics might not work here so you might need to try something different.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
The Black Mage is your primary target. Just like the Green Mage, he has the ability to summon more enemies. If he is not addressed in a timely manner, the battle can quickly get out of control.  Ignore the other enemies and focus on attacking the Black Mage as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately for you, he is immune to most of your tweaks, including your Modify Health tweak.  You will need to get up close to him and use your sword to damage him.

Task 9:  Follow the Mage[ | ]

Hint[ | ]
Hint
Look to see where he has gone and head in that direction.
Solution[ | ]
Solution
After receiving a certain amount of damage, the Black Mage used his teleport ability to appear just outside the entrance to the Cathedral.  It’s the largest building in the city and the one directly north of the fight. You need to head towards the Cathedral to try to catch up with him.  Markers have appeared in world and on the map to guide you to the location you need to go.
Chasing after him is your primary objective, so you can just ignore whatever is left of the fight and head after him. And you don’t need to catch him you just need to get to the Cathedral.

Cathedral Entrance Cinematic[ | ]

You and your allies enter the Cathedral to face the Black Mage in a final battle.

Task 10:  Defeat the Black Mage[ | ]

Phase 1[ | ]

The player and the Heroic trio battle the Black Mage and his summoned minions

Phase 1 Hint[ | ]
Phase 1 Hint
This is a straight-up fight.  Use the skills you have learned so far to dispatch your enemies.  Don’t ignore the Black Mage though.
Phase 1 Solution[ | ]
Phase 1 Solution
There are many ways to do this.  The Black Mage is immune to your Modify Health Tweak and Damage AoE Mod but his minions are not. Use the hacks to whittle away any help he calls in.  To damage the Mage, get up close and attack him with your sword.  You could stay back and let your allies do it, though their damage output is a lot lower than yours.  There are also a handful of explosive barrels scattered about and if you can lead the Mage close to them, you can blow them up with one of your ranged attacks and damage him.
Phase 2[ | ]

The Black Mage has added a defensive measure to the fight that you need to find a way to workaround.

Phase 2 Hint[ | ]
Phase 2 Hint
The Black Mage is only invulnerable while inside the shield radius.
Phase 2 Solution[ | ]
Phase 2 Solution
The Black Mage activates a defensive measure which produces a magical shield around the fountain area.  As long as the Mage is standing within the shield, he is invulnerable to all damage.  The only way to injure him is to get him out of the shield.
After a certain amount of time, he will come out on his own, but you have other options.
If you use your Move Tweak with the default values, you will find out that you can push the Mage around.  That means you can push him outside of the shield radius if you line things up correctly.
The values of all your tweaks can be adjusted though, and sometimes swapping something from a positive to a negative number (or negative to positive) will have quite the affect.  In this case, if you swap the values of the Move Tweak from positive to negative, you will be able to move objects towards you.  Essentially, you switch it from a “push” to a “pull”.  Doing so makes it much easier to get the Black Mage out from the shield radius.
If you don’t remember from the Tutorial how to change the value of a tweak, open your Inventory and click on the tweak that has already been slotted in your Casting Wheel.  A panel will appear that allows you to change the value.
Phase 3[ | ]

The Mage has ramped up his defensive measures to the highest degree and in order to defeat him you are going to need a little help from your friends.

Phase 3 Hint[ | ]
Phase 3 Hint
You have a lot of tools at your disposal and you'll need to figure out which one to use at the right time.  You will need to use nearly everything you have learned up to this point and get creative with usage.  Pay close attention to what the NPCs and Ada tell you.  They haven’t steered you wrong yet.
Phase 3 Solution[ | ]
Phase 3 Solution
This phase has two parts.  First, the Mage will extend the radius of the fountain shield to cover the whole room, making him invulnerable to all attacks.  Since the shield now fills the room, there is no way to get him outside of its radius and you'll need to shift your focus elsewhere.  Riga will encourage you to do something about the fountain and Ada will have reminded you about using your Lenses.  If you heed both pieces of advice and use your Lenses on the fountain you will find that you can reduce the scale size of the shield. Doing so will make the Mage vulnerable again.
Unfortunately, a few seconds after you scale it down, the Mage will scale it back up.  But you tried and that’s what counts. Realizing that this is not the way to go, Riga will call for a strategic retreat so the team can regroup and figure out a new plan of attack.
Markers will appear in the game world and on the map indicating where you need to go.
Head back to the marker location and this will trigger a mid-fight cinematic.  In it, you will see Riga give you what she calls a spell. It is actually a Rev, a chunk of code that can be used to change the primary behavior of an object.  In this case, it has been designed to affect the fountain.
Once out of the cinematic, find the Rev in your inventory and drag it to any slot on the Casting Wheel to slot it in place.  Choose it as your active hack (by pressing the number associated with it or using the mouse scroll wheel to select it) and then cast it at the fountain.
Doing so you will see the defensive shield effect go away and it will be replaced with a pulsating effect instead.  If you watch closely, you will see that every enemy that gets touched by the pulsing shield takes damage from it.  Now all that is left to do is to defeat the Black Mage.  He should be relatively weak at this point and it shouldn’t take you too long to deliver the final blow.  Or so you think.

Ending Cinematic[ | ]

The fight with the Black Mage is not quite over and you along with the Heroic Trio do one final push to save the RTS world from his evil influence.
